Rancho Wendy Abroad Program!

What is immersion language study?

It is learning a foreign language the same way we learned English (or whatever our native language is): by living it. In a typical language immersion school, the student doesn't study only in the formal sense — he or she lives the language. Classes are taught entirely in Spanish, speaking in another language at any time is discouraged, and the student lives in Spanish-speaking environment. That means students hear the language as it is used in real life.

Why should I consider going to an immersion language school?

Because you want to learn the language. Because it's fun. Because you can make new friends. Because you can gain an understanding of a different culture. Any or all of the above.

So If you are considering volunteering abroad and are looking for a program that focuses on community service and volunteer work while incorporating international travel, outdoor education, language and cultural immersion, then join our team this fall, winter, spring or summer and help make a difference during one of our community service projects for all ages.

If you are ready for something new and different, ready to give something back to the international community while growing tremendously as an individual, then Rancho Wendy will provide an experience of a lifetime.

Our program focuses on hiking, traveling, adventures, horse training, mountain and rock climbing to the highest peak in the Caribbean (Pico Duarte), mountain biking, traveling across the country, horseback riding, swimming, camping, cooking, nightly bonfires (bring your instruments), boating, motorcycling, and the thrill of a lifetime!

Community Projects: Teaching English in the rural schools, cleaning up the community, storytelling to local groups, repairing the school houses, organizing excursions to the art museum and river trekking trips, animal care and awareness (horses), local tour guide development program, creating local guide books, teaching music and songs to local groups, dance exchange events, and volunteering in the rural medical clinics.
